Families who may be considering withdrawing their child from St Mark’s at the end of this year are reminded that the School’s Acceptance Agreement states that a full term’s notice in writing must be given to the Principal before the withdrawal of a child from the School. Failure to provide such notice will involve the payment of a full term’s fees.

It is magpie swooping season, and we have had reports that there are a number of magpies nesting in the trees around the school. The crosswalk and pergola area near the PAC seems to be affected more than other areas.

This classic comedy emerged during the darkest days of WW2 and is an excellent example of a black comedy farce for a world that needed a laugh. Exploring 24 hours in the life of the Brewster family in Brooklyn, we meet two adorable spinster sisters who run an unusual boarding cellar for lonely old men, a long-lost criminal brother with a penchant for plastic surgery, a theatre critic who hates his job but loves his fiancé, a police-officer who really wants to be a theatrical star and an uncle who thinks he’s Theodore Roosevelt and scares the neighbours with his bugle at all hours.
This is family-friendly fare, providing that your family isn’t horrified by gallows humour. We imagine it was quite influential on John Cleese and Connie Booth in the Fawlty Towers episode “The Kipper and the Corpse”, if you know that one. If your family likes that – you will like this play. The film adaption with Cary Grant is a classic of that artform that you may well have seen.

St Mark's is again looking for volunteers to assist with supervision for the upcoming Year 11 exams from Tuesday 29 October to Friday 8 November.
Sessions are broken up into two time slots, morning (08:00am to 12:00pm) and afternoon (1:00pm to 4:30pm).

The Parents Prayer Group (PPG) meet fortnightly to pray for the students, staff and school community.
We will be meeting every second Friday 9am in the school chapel, starting 18th October.

The St Marks Busy Bee is scheduled for Saturday 26 October - 8.30am to 11.30am. This event is a great opportunity to bring our community together to support the school and will be followed by a sausage sizzle.

P&F Committee
The St Mark's Parents and Friends' Association (P&F) invites staff, parents, and students to submit project proposals for 2025 funding. Projects should positively impact the school community, align with school values, and not cover regular classroom resources.
Proposals are due by October 25, 2024, and must include project details, costs, and Department Head approval. Successful examples of past funding include the Performing Arts Complex foyer refurbishment, air-conditioning, and bike shelters.
Proposals will be reviewed over the December holidays, with potential meetings for further discussion.
