Final Reminders for the Secondary Athletics Carnival

Students are reminded to meet in their House Meeting areas at 8.30am tomorrow.

All students must compete in their correct House uniform. Students to wear their House Sports Uniform (with correct sports shoes and socks).

Students should also have with them their school tracksuit, rain jacket, small towel and change of clothes, hat and sunscreen are also recommended.

Students must have/carry all personal medication / Ventolin etc with them on the day.

(Year 12’s only are permitted to wear costumes and these can be worn for the costume event and also when not competing).

Please note that face paint, body paint, coloured hair spray and glitter is not allowed at the WA Athletics Stadium.

Students should also bring a packed lunch, snacks, water, Some kiosk options will be available.

We look forward to another fabulous day at the WA Athletics Stadium and wish all students the very best for a great carnival.

We are thrilled to continue our event series, Career Conversations. This series will offer our Year 10-12 students valuable insights into tertiary education and various career paths from members of St Mark's community sharing their post-school experiences. Based on student feedback to our Futures Team, each session will highlight a different sector.

Our next Career Conversations event will focus on the Engineering/Mining, Environmental, and Marine/Maritime Sectors, featuring three speakers from these fields. Students interested in careers in these fields won’t want to miss this opportunity, and even if you’re undecided about your future career, come along to explore and understand what working in these sectors could be like!

This is a short course that serves as a stepping stone to career pathways and ultimately employment in the following areas Cabling and Network Infrastructure Technicians, Network Engineers, Cyber Security Professionals, Electronic Security Technicians and Audio Visual (AV) Technicians.

If you are interested in a career in any of the above, then this hands-on, practical-focused training is where you start.
It is designed to take a student with minimum or no experience through the technical requirements to start their new career.
Students will learn how to install and test telecommunications cabling and outlets using specialist tools and test equipment
and much more.

Successful completion of this course will enable you to then get the practical knowledge needed to apply as part of an Open
Cabling Registration (License) to work in the telecommunications industry in Australia.

We are currently finalising the course dates and current year 12 students will be able to enrol in training from the 28th of October, once they finish the school year.

Our Year 12 students and Old Scholars are gearing up for the annual Kristian Hoogenkamp Memorial AFL Match. This match honours Kristian Hoogenkamp, our beloved Class of 2020 member, who bravely lost his battle to rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, in 2019. This year, the Class of 2024 is taking it to the next level by raising funds for Sock it to Sarcoma through the Hoogenkamp Spirit Cup Raffle.

So why not help a worthy cause that is extremely close to our hearts and possibly win a prize at the same time?

The raffle will be DRAWN FRIDAY 30 AUGUST 2024 at 3.00PM.

The purchase of raffle tickets online closes at 1.30pm on Friday, 30 August 2024.

Raffle tickets will be available to purchase from Thursday, 23 August 2024, at 4.00pm via the online platform (credit card only) or from the Main Parent Reception (credit card). Our Prefects will also be selling raffle tickets during the Kristian Hoogenkamp Memorial Game.

St Mark's is again looking for volunteers to assist with supervision for the upcoming Year 11 exams from Tuesday 29 October to Friday 8 November.

Sessions are broken up into two time slots, morning (08:00am to 12:00pm) and afternoon (1:00pm to 4:30pm).

The Hamersley Athletics Centre is excited to announce an upcoming Information Day scheduled for early September. We caters to a diverse age range, from Under 7s to Under 17s, and has recently expanded into senior athletes as well.

The Newman Breakers Water Polo Club at Newman College is set to become the new hub for aspiring young athletes with the introduction of exciting water polo opportunities. The local water polo club is reaching out to the school community with an invitation to explore its programs, designed for students of all skill levels.

The club offers a range of programs, including Flippa Ball for younger players and the Water Polo WA State League Junior programs for those looking to advance their skills. The club aims to provide a supportive environment for students to either start their water polo journey or further develop their existing abilities.

All Old Scholars are invited to attend the 2024 Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, 17 September, in the SAC Staffroom.

Did you know that our Old Scholars' Association Little Lions Playgroup is run on-site every Friday during term time? We'd love to see your little cub there this Friday!

Join us from 8.45 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. for lots of fun and games. Little Lions Playgroup is a community-based group run in conjunction with Playgroup WA and caters for children up to school age. Families attending our Kindy and not in session on Fridays are more than welcome to join as well.
