Year 9 to Year 10 Subject Selection 2025
During Pastoral Care Group time, our Heads of Department have been discussing Year 10 elective subjects with our Year 9 students. At the beginning of Week 5, your child will choose their elective subjects for 2025. They will be provided with a web code that will enable them to make their elections online.
The Year 10 curriculum is designed to be both challenging and enriching so that our students can ‘step up’ to the demands and opportunities of Senior School. This is a year where we encourage our students to further develop their study habits and routines in preparation for Year 11 and Year 12. Over the course of the year students will be encouraged to explore different career options and establish their goals and aspirations for the future. They will be supported to make career and learning choices and to lay the foundations for lifelong learning and lifelong career development.
We encourage our students to choose elective subjects based on their future goals, pathway, interests, and abilities. Year 10 is a gateway to the final years of schooling. It is, therefore, a year when students can explore different subject areas to see if they are the right ‘fit’ in preparation for choosing subjects for Year 11 and Year 12.
The St Mark’s Year 10 Subject Selection handbook is available here. The handbook gives an overview of the Year 10 academic year and the elective subjects your child can choose from. The subjects are all aligned with the pathways to Year 11 and Year 12. We encourage you to read the guide with your child, and discuss the different subject offerings and support your child as they make their choices.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact either the Head of Department or myself.
