Tuesday September 24^th, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence - https://www.trybooking.com/CVFRD
Cost: Free. Open to high school students in yr 5-10, and teachers.

Day of AI Australia and the ECU School of Science are pleased to offer this Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for students in Years 5-10, and teachers. You will get hands-on with different AI tools and explore what AI is, how it works, ethical implications, and ways to apply AI. This is the first time we are offering this exciting workshop, in a collaboration with Day of AI Australia.

Cost: $18.50. Open to high school students, teachers and parents.

An intelligence workshop for high school students interested in learning about working in Security and Intelligence. Engage in activities, including research and analysis tasks, logical thinking and strategy exercises and 'Who Dun It?' style investigations.

Cost: $18.50. Open to high school students.

Join us for an educational, cyber security role playing adventure. Cyber Team Red: UnityCo Mission is a role play game (RPG) that explores cyber security concepts using teamwork, problem solving and communication. Adopt the role of an elite cyber professional, making decisions and dealing with the consequences as you work to successfully achieve a cyber security mission (no prior experience required). This facilitated workshop will help you to explore skills and learn about careers in the cyber industry.

Friday September 27^th, Jump into Game Creation (2024 repeat) - https://www.trybooking.com/CVFQH
Cost: $18.50. Open to high school students, teachers and parents.

A coding workshop for those familiar with coding and basic coding concepts (intermediate - knowledge of Python required) to create a 2D game where you avoid enemies and jump across buildings. This workshop will give you an overview of how game characters are coded, how levels are created and how to put everything together to make a game.

Creative Industries Open Day Oct 2024

In Term 2 our Creative Industries team held an amazing open night at our Northbridge Campus…..well the invitation is open again!!

On October 9^th our passionate Portfolio staff will be ready and waiting to meet, greet and chat all things Creative Industries from 4pm – 6pm @ 12 Aberdeen Street Northbridge.

The open night will include representatives + tours for the following areas

• Animation & Game Art
• Fashion & Textile Design
• Film & Television
• Printing & Graphic Arts
• Graphic Design
• Interior Design
• Jewellery Design
• Photography
• Product Design
• Visual Arts
• Building Design & Drafting
• Specialist Make-Up & SFX
• BOOM Radio (Information booth)
• Music & Sound (Information booth)

If you have students interested in these industry areas, whether it be for VETDSS and just want peep at what to expect, part time, full time, leaving school, after finishing school options etc, tell them to bring their friends and families to check out the TAFE facilities.

Our graduates in Creative Industries have found careers all over the globe! An evening not to be missed…

The last day of Term 3 is this Friday 20 September and students will finish at their normal time on this day for a 2 week break.

The first day of Term 4 is Monday 7 October and students are to wear summer uniform (see article below for Uniform Shop holiday opening times).

Please note that the Uniform Shop will be open during the school holidays on Wednesday 2 October from 07:45am to 12:45pm and Thursday 3 October from 11:30am to 4:30pm.

We have received an increase in concerns raised over our School community's use of St Marks Drive during drop-off and pick-up times and not adhering to the traffic and road rules. For the safety of our students, please remember:

• St Marks Drive is a 40km/h School Zone between 7.30am - 9.00am and 2.30pm - 4.00pm.
  
  
• Please drive with caution and care.
  
  
• Please do not double park at any location, including (but not limited to): Kiss ‘n Drive points, St Marks Drive, School parking lots, access gates and across our neighbours’ driveways.
  
  
• Remember, during drop-off and pick-up times, the traffic in and around the School can get very heavy, and some behaviours put our students - your children - at risk. In particular, please be aware of double parking, overtaking and exiting the School, as these can limit driver and pedestrian fields of vision, and can cause accidents.
  
  
• Please do not overtake stationary cars on the School grounds, especially in Kiss ‘n Drive zones.
  
  
• When exiting the School grounds, please ensure you look both left and right carefully before re-entering St Marks Dr, particularly around our neighbour’s driveways.
  
  
• Please DO NOT park in our neighbourly businesses' carparks, including the Endeavour Centre, Mitre 10, Better Pets, AutoMasters, SuperCheap, and Whitford Family Centre. Should you require additional parking, Whitford Shopping Centre has kindly allowed us to use the bays next to Muzz Buzz.

Families who may be considering withdrawing their child from St Mark’s at the end of this year are reminded that the School’s Acceptance Agreement states that a full term’s notice in writing must be given to the Principal before the withdrawal of a child from the School. Failure to provide such notice will involve the payment of a full term’s fees.

Cahoots is a volunteer-run service that helps us bring laughter and smiles to our participants. We’re excited to offer volunteering opportunities to graduating Year 12 students who are looking for something rewarding to do over the summer. This is a fantastic chance to gain valuable skills in teamwork, youth engagement, and supporting people with disabilities. It’s an ideal opportunity for students interested in fields such as nursing, teaching, occupational therapy, community services, etc.

We are excited to advise that the Old Scholars' Association Scholarship applications are now open.

The Scholarship is awarded to a Year 9 student who excels and commits to several sporting, cultural, extra, and co-curricular pursuits, community, academic commitment, and specialist areas. The Association is looking for a well-rounded student who embodies the spirit of St Mark's Anglican Community School.

The Scholarship will provide a partial fee remission for the successful student each year and will continue until the student leaves St Mark's or for three years.

Applications will close on THURSDAY 10 OCTOBER 2024, AT 4.00PM.
