Middle School Bulletin - Term 1, Week 9

On Tuesday, 20 May, we will hold Parent-Teacher Interviews for Years 7 to 9. The interviews serve as an opportunity for us to discuss your child's progress, address any concerns, and collaborate on ways to support their academic and personal growth. We are pleased to offer both online and in-person options for these interviews. You can have an online interview from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm or a face-to-face interview from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

• Online interviews will only be available between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm

• In person interviews will only be available between 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm

In the second week of the new term, the portal for requesting an interview will be available. You will receive an email from the school regarding registering for an interview. You will select the type of interview you would like and book a time. The booking portal will close on Friday of Week 3. You will receive a reminder from the School regarding checking into Booked to confirm your interview time and access your video conference link.

On Tuesday, 20 May, students in the Secondary School will finish at 1:00 pm. This is to facilitate the Parent-Teacher Interviews.

We will be conducting interviews for Mathematics, English, Science, HaSS, and language subjects, and there are limited places available. If you are unable to secure an interview on the scheduled day, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher(s) directly to arrange a time to discuss their progress.

Tuesday 29 April.

A short reminder that next term, our Winter Uniform guidelines are in place.

Please remember to name all items before they are worn to school, as they may be subject to the immense gravitational forces that our lost property boxes possess.

Please note that the Uniform Shop will be open during the school holidays on

• Monday 14 April from 8:30am to 2:30pm,
• Wednesday 16 April 11:30am to 5:00pm
• Monday 28 April from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

The School Based Immunisation Program is run by the Child and Adolescent Community Health Team. Throughout the 2025 school year the program will be providing the following immunisations at St Mark's:

• Year 7 - Wednesday 17 September 2025:
  • HPV (human papilloma virus)
  • dTpa (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)

• Year 10 - Wednesday 21 May 2025 :
  • Meningococcal ACWY vaccine

All students require parent/guardian consent before they receive any vaccinations at school.

The Parents Prayer Group (PPG) meet fortnightly to pray for the students, staff and school community. We will be meeting every second Friday 9am in the school chapel, starting 14th Feb. Please sign in at reception and perhaps stop by the coffee van on the way. All are welcome. The Salvation Army Takeaway Food Containers Program is back again in 2025.

We are looking for volunteers to cook 10-20 meals for the Salvation Army Term 1 Takeaway Food Containers (either for Parent Commitment Hours / Student IGNITE Hours / Duke of Edinburgh Hours)

We are seeking volunteers to prepare meals at home for weekend 5 and 6 April for the Salvation Army Takeaway Food Containers Program. Parents/students will then need to drop-off these prepared meals to school on the morning of Monday 7 April.

The empty containers will be available for collection from Monday 31 March from Junior School Reception.

• 10x Meals = 1.5 x Parent Commitment Hours
• 20x Meals = 3.0 x Parent Commitment Hours

Meals need to be substantial; no soups are required. It is preferred that full gluten products are used.

Below is a list of options that you can cook. Meal suggestions include:

• Chilli Con Carne (mild)
• Spaghetti Bolognese
• Pasta Bakes
• Pasta Carbonara
• Tuna Mornay
• Lasagne

(you may deviate from this list, but we ask that the meal prepared contains either a pasta or rice accompaniment and is not heavily spiced).

The (takeaway food) containers are provided. These will have a sticker on them that you will need to complete with the name of the meal and the date it was cooked or frozen (please state on the sticker).

Meals will need to be dropped off on the morning of Monday 7 April. There will be a collection point from 7.45am by the Flag Pole round-a-bout in front of Junior School Reception for you to “drop n go” the meals to me.

Applications for the Sister Eileen Heath Scholarship are now open. Please submit your nomination by Monday 28 July 2025. The scholarship is to support the most disadvantaged children.

Put it in your calendars; the Art Show will return this October!

Opening night is October 10th, with the show running through to the 12th!

This year, we aim to have over 100 local artists showing over 350 pieces, live art demonstrations, musical performances, interactive art classes, a People's Choice Award, raffle prizes, and much more.

More information will be released as details are finalised, but this is going to be a show you won’t want to miss!

The Federal Election will be held on 3^rd May 2025, and St Mark's P&F will be hosting a Sausage Sizzle BBQ and Cake Stall on election day.

To ensure a successful election day BBQ stall, we are calling for volunteers to help on the day; we only need 2 hours of your time! It's a great way to bank some more PCH early in the year.

There are a number of roles available, including set up, pack down, cooking on the BBQ, serving sausages and cakes or manning the EFTPOS / cash register.

We will also be accepting donations for the cake stall from 7am on the morning of the election. Please no items that contain nuts, and ensure all ingredients are listed. If you are bringing items in reusable containers, please collect prior to 2pm.

Did you know that our Old Scholars' Association Little Lions Playgroup is run on-site every Friday during term time? We'd love to see your little cub there this Friday!

Join us from 8.45 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. for lots of fun and games. Little Lions Playgroup is a community-based group run in conjunction with Playgroup WA and caters for children up to school age. Families attending our Kindy and not in session on Fridays are more than welcome to join as well.
