A message from the Head of Primary School
I like to jump in puddles,
And make myself all wet.
So, do I like it when it rains?
Of course I do you bet!
This week certainly looks like winter but to steal a verse from Jillien Marker, for many students, the rain only adds to the fun of school!
Easily overlooked in the inconvenience that rain imposes on us adults, the cooler weather and showers add to our student’s experiences and help them to grow into well rounded adults. As you would know, some children love the wet weather. The first rain of the year always results in many children walking in slow motion towards undercover areas in order to get as wet as possible. Even though the clouds have now set in, there are still many who find immense joy and curiosity in the puddles that are a result of the weather.
I really believe that one thing our community does well is to embrace and accept our Perth weather and the impact it has on schooling. Patience at dop off and pick up is needed as the process slows and for the many children who walk or ride to school, alternative arrangements have to be made and this also adds to the numbers and logistics at the school gates. I thank all parents for their support of student safety and the patience they are showing.
The time will come when children have grown up enough to lose the sense of fun and adventure that wet weather brings but, in the meantime, let’s appreciate the excitement and imagination that the rainy weather allows.
