Junior School Bulletin - Term 2, Week 3

Photos for Junior School students began today and continue tomorrow – please see schedule below. Students are to wear full winter uniform (including jumper and tie) for their photo (if your child's class has sport on this day then please ensure they bring their full winter uniform to school with them so that they can get changed for their photo).

As Photo Day in the Junior School takes place over 2 days this week, the schedule is as follows and includes Music groups:

• Tuesday 30 April – All Year 3 classes, Year 4Mason and Year 4Upson
  
  
• Wednesday 1 May – All Year 2 classes. All Year 5 classes, Year 4Martino and Year 4Hummerston. Group music photos will be also taken on this day for students in Y2/3 Crescendo Kids Choir, Y4/5 Take Note Choir, Viva Ritmo Voices and Junior Instrumental Ensembles. This does NOT include Y2 Strings. UPDATE: Due to bad weather forecast, students involved in ensemble photos do not need to bring their instruments with them for the photo (only bring instrument if you have a scheduled music lesson).

For families that would like a siblings photo, these can be taken either before school (8.15am – 8.40am) or after school (3.25pm – 3.45pm) on 29 April – 2 May in the School Hall.

For families of Old Scholars these photos are being taken at 7.45am Tuesday 30 April in the School Hall.

For information, if your child is absent from school on Photo Day, there will be a catch-up Photo Day for absentees on Wednesday, 8 May.

• PP-Y5 Interhouse Cross Country – Tuesday 21 May (Week 6)
  This event will take place on the Secondary Oval and students are to wear House uniform on this day. Notifications will be sent to parents via Consent2Go closer to the date.
  
  
• Y3 AQWA Sleepover (Week 6)
  Tuesday 21 May – Year 3 Keenan (whole class), Year 3 Robinson (16 students)
  Wednesday 22 May – Year 3 Greaves (whole class), Year 3 Robinson (16 students)
  Notifications have already been sent out via Consent2Go. Please update permission in Consent2Go and return the paperwork to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
  
  
• Junior School Disco – Friday 7 June (Week 8)
  Further details will be communicated to parents nearer the date.
  
  
• Y5 Winter Sport Lightning Carnival – Monday 10 June (Week 9)
  Notifications will be sent to Y5 parents via Consent2Go in due course.
  
  
• Interschool Cross Country – Friday 21 June (Week 10)
  Notifications will be sent to parents of selected students via Consent2Go in due course.
  
  
• Term Dates
  The last day of Term 2 is Friday 21 June (normal finish time) for a three week break. The first day of Term 3 is Tuesday 16 July and students are to wear winter uniform. Further information regarding Term dates can be found here.
  
  

We have seen an increase in the number of students presenting to the Wellness Centre with COVID / Cold and Flu symptoms, so please keep your child at home if they are sick.

Please be reminded that students with any symptoms should not be sent to school regardless of a negative RAT test. If your child presents to the Wellness Centre with any cold or flu, or COVID symptoms, we will have to call you to come and collect them. For information regarding the latest rulings relating to COVID cases, please click here.

Unfortunately, there are still lots of other viruses in the community, and we need to protect our staff and students.

If your child is sick with any illness, please keep them at home.

Wellness Centre Team

The SEQTA Engage App now allows parents to notify the school of their child's absence. We encourage all families to use this method for reporting if your child is late, leaving early, or absent for a day. For absences longer than 3 days, please email using the absentee email address.

To enter your child's absences into SEQTA Engage, simply log in as usual, and you'll see a new tab called Absence at the top of the Welcome panel. Remember to include your name and reason for absences in the comment section.

The St Marks Busy Bee is scheduled for 11th May - 8.30am to 12.00pm.

This event is a great opportunity to bring our community together to support the school, and will be followed by a sausage sizzle.

Please bring your own tools on the day, including:

- paint brushes and containers for paint

- wheelbarrows

- shovels, forks and spades

- cleaning products, sponges, buckets and squeegees.

Please meet at the Quadrangle at 0830 and don't forget to bring gloves, hats and water bottles

Parent commitment hours are available for families that attend or for those wishing to provide food/drink donations for the event.

P&F Committee

St Mark's is again looking for volunteers to assist with supervision for the upcoming Year 11 exams from Tuesday 29 October to Friday 8 November.

Sessions are broken up into two time slots, morning (08:00am to 12:00pm) and afternoon (1:00pm to 4:30pm).
