Congratulations to Year 6 student, Chloe, who has qualified for and been selected in the WA State Gymnastics team to compete in the 2022 Australian National Gymnastics Championships.
Chloe will compete in Acrobatic Gymnastics Level 6 Woman’s Pairs at the WA State Championships on 30 April and will then travel to the Gold Coast for the Australian National Championships in May.

School photos are being taken from Week 2. With the easing of COVID restrictions, we can now take group photographs. Please read the following information carefully, as the Photo Package options available have now changed.
Photo Orders:
● Orders placed ONLINE will receive the packages as viewed on the website – please note these packages contain slightly different products to the ones shown on the Order Form which is being distributed this week. Packages online NOW INCLUDE Group Class Photos.
● Photos can be ordered online at www.3p.net.au using the Shoot Key: DJ7L83P
● Orders placed with a cash payment in the Order Form provided, will receive the packages as viewed on the Order Form (i.e. no Group Photos)
● Orders will be delivered to the School and distributed to students
● Digital Downloads are available from www.3p.net.au after delivery
Photo Day:
● Please ensure hair & clothes are neat and tidy – preferably no large high or side ponytails as they may be cropped out. Full winter uniform is to be worn by students in accordance with details on the website: https://www.stmarks.wa.edu.au/...
Sibling Photos:
● Sibling Photos will be taken at the photography area (Ken Fairfield Hall) before school. Sibling photos will be taken throughout the three days and confirmation of days/times will be advised.
● Students must present themselves to the photography area – students cannot be collected from class
● Order only on eldest child’s form, unless ordering multiple sibling packs

Our Year 10 students are hoping you will get behind one of our projects. A small ask to make a BIG change.
We ask that you please start collecting your PLASTIC BREAD TAGS (not cardboard ones). We hope to collect as many as possible over the next three terms. The plastic bread tags collected will be recycled locally, raising funds to buy wheelchairs for disadvantaged people, mainly in South Africa.

We are creating a few collection points throughout the school where you can drop off your bread tags. Students will be notified of the locations soon. Community members are welcome to drop them at our main reception.

As part of HaSS Week last term, our students had the opportunity to enter the Humanities and Social Sciences Week Cartoon Competition. The Economics-themed political competition required the cartoons to be based on one of two themes relating to the current economic climate:

At the end of Term 1, an aspiring group of budding Year 12 biochemists attended the Bayliss Youth Lecture Series.
This annual lecture series typically focuses on relevant and current themes in the world of Biochemistry. This year was no different. The lecture investigated the chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology of the mRNA vaccines and the proteins they encode that train our immune systems against the SARS-COV2 virus.
The students got a taste of what a lecture was like and even heard from doctors and pioneers in vaccine development and immunology – a very current topic in the world of medicine!
With the unfortunate cancellation of our A-Division swimming carnival last term, we still wanted to choose a swim team and acknowledge their talents. These swimmers have put in many hours of training at their club, surf club or previous ACC training. The team was selected from our Swim trials (Year 7 - 10) and from previous ACC carnival results.
We acknowledged them by presenting the swimmers with a Lions Sports Award in the chapel during week 9 and week 10 of last term.

This recognition is for students who have demonstrated long term commitment to the School's sporting programs. One of our newest Old Scholars, Meganne Betteridge (Class of 2021), has been selected as part of the Pulse Perspectives exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA.
Meganne's work titled 'Otherworld' is currently on display at AGWA until 24 July and has been created using charcoal on board. She describes her artwork as "... a charcoal self-portrait inspired by the works of John Singer Sargent and Dimitra Milan. I wanted to create an artwork that I felt reflected my idea of heritage and the connection I have with my family and ancestors."
Pulse Perspectives celebrates the art of WA's talented graduating high school artists from 2021 and this year features 49 works from 32 schools across WA. The selected works display a variety of subject matter and media, ranging from painting and drawing to sculpture, digital moving images, photography and textiles. This term, we are giving it a Cyber Security theme exploring information security and hash functions. Come along and meet uni students who are studying cyber security and women from the cyber security industry. It will be hosted at ECU Joondalup School of Science in conjunction with Woodside Petroleum - Karen Ng and Piper Gregory.
