Last Thursday, the second annual Middle School Eisteddfod took place in the Barbara Godwin Performing Arts Centre (PAC). This was the first music event for the year, and there were almost double the number of competitors from 2021; an amazing effort despite the many challenges faced with COVID-19.
The event was split into two sections, beginning with Year 7 and 8, followed by the Year 6s. Both sections included performances across a range of instruments and musical genres.
There was an incredibly high standard of music-making, with our young competitors performing with confidence and professionalism. The two adjudicators for the event were Mr Cameron van Reyk, Head of Music at Wesley College, and our very own Mrs Kristy Raymond were both very impressed by the array of talent displayed.
The following competitors have been recognised for their stand-out performances. They will be presented with these awards at the Middle School Assembly in Week 7.
Certificates of Excellence:
Year 6: Xavier Ingram (Classical Guitar), Tia Rogers (Clarinet), Kelsey Munds (Piano), Hazel Foley (Flute), Chanel Webb (Trombone)
Year 7: Alyssa Lee, Hayley Turnball and Saskia Kluver (Percussion Ensemble)
Year 8: Jaxon Figliomeni (Drums), Grace Halsall (Voice)
Certificates of Outstanding:
Year 6: Koga Haywood (Alto Saxophone), Claire Curtis (Violin)
Year 7: Amy Hammond (Voice), Hannah Plant (Piano), Daniel Ciccullo (Violin)
Congratulations to all involved, and thank you to the Music Department for coordinating a fabulous show!
