The final round of fixtures was completed this week. Each sport had a different format but most finished with finals or a game that concluded our new remodelled season. There were highlights everywhere with some exciting finishes. A big thanks to all the teachers who gave up their afternoons to help organise and run our competition and also the Senior students who helped out with the volleyball, and the referees/umpires for basketball and cricket. The Year 7-12 students who played seemed to really enjoy the opportunity, and they have been invited to a pizza lunch this week and next week as a reward for embracing the opportunity.
Senior Boys Basketball: Tuesday (Year 9-10) Mr Salinas and Mr Lehman
Two finals were scheduled in the penultimate round, with Team 2 and 4 competing for the 'gold'. The 3-game series was tight, but Ariz and Thatcher led their team to victory in the end. In the other game, Team 3 had too much firepower for Team 1, with Flynn and Sam exerting their physical presence.

Senior Girls Basketball: Tuesday (Year 9-11) Ms Szostak
Final teams were organised with Nothing but Net versing the Blaaaazers. Nothing but Net, which had all Year 10s, was just everywhere as Mia and Tabitha were in everything. They won both games but were challenged at times. Special shout out to Daisy, who manages to play each week while working around her musical commitments.

Girls Touch Rugby: Tuesday (Year 7-12) Mr Rowland and Mr Limpitlaw
The development of everyone’s game is incredible to witness and extremely rewarding to see as a coach. On Tuesday, the two juggernauts of the competition Blitz and Beast, went head-to-head to decide who would take the top spot on the ladder. As predicted, the game was an absolute belter, and both teams were incredible. Eva came back from H.I.A protocols to score in the game’s opening minutes for Blitz.
Ellie controlled the middle for Beast and set up several tries for her wingers. Working in tandem with the electrifying Kira she managed a couple of cheeky tries. Few Blitz players could break the line with Mackenzie literally flying through the air to make touches when she wasn’t crashing over the line for points. Halftime saw Blitz down by three. The second half was a Cinderella-story comeback with Andie, Sophie, Ellie and Piper working quick roll-balls to advance their position and usually turning it into points when inside the 7-metre line. An after the siren play from Blitz tied the scores at six a-piece, and the jostle for top spot remains.
Game 2 between the 7 Disciples and Yozza was just as energetic. The Disciples surely had someone looking out for them because they were blessed by the number of tries they created. Louise lost count of how many times she put the ball over the line after receiving great passes from Megan and Molly. Amber showed she was a force to be reckoned with getting a try herself. Yozza was valiant in their efforts. Casey was reliable as always and hard to catch in space. Bella set a record for the number of Allen’s snakes consumed. Next week the girls will continue playing (finals) with their commitment to training on Friday really paying off.
Senior Beach Volleyball: Tuesday (Year 10-12) Mr Van Winsen, Ms Tutton and Ms McCarthy
Our final visit to the North Beach centre provided our beach volleyballers with an opportunity to dive around the sand courts. We have a large group of Year 11s and enthusiastic Year 10s who have progressed. Mr Van Winsen and Ms McCarthy have enjoyed taking this Senior group of students off campus to play.

Year 7/8 Boys Basketball: Wednesday (Mrs Thompson / Mrs Galjaardt)
Close games were on display as all teams were engaged in nail-biting finishes. In the playoff for third, Team 3, led by Jasper, had too much depth and just got over the line to a gallant Team 1. For the 'big dance', Team 2 and Team 4 played two close games. They both came away with a victory, but Team 2 was declared the winner by a very small margin of four points on a countback! Team 2 seemed to have an even contribution with Mitchell, Kai, Lucas and Freddy stepping up to help Tristan.

Year 7/8 Girls Basketball: Wednesday Mrs Bailey and Mrs Nicholson
The highly-anticipated match between Year 7 and 8 was played. The normal format was disbanded with a full-court game between the year groups. With some dubious calls from the refs (they may have been instructed to favour the youngsters), the Year 7 girls accepted the challenge and took it to the Year 8s. A special mention to Sadie for her physicality and the overall dominance of Annabelle.

Year 7-9 Cricket: Wednesday Mr Davies and Mr Browner
On an overcast afternoon at Belrose, the cricketers eagerly made their way across the road to battle in an entertaining match. There were many highlights, but individuals that stood out were Fletcher – Player of the Match, 27 runs, bowling 2/4 from 2 overs; Kai – 34 runs (including six boundaries), bowling 1/8 from 2 overs; Jackson – 2 run outs, 11 runs, bowling 1/8 from 2 overs; and Jason – 7 runs, bowling 2/21 from 2 overs.
A big thank you to Campbell for being our WACA-accredited umpire for our whole season, and best wishes to him as he umpires finals in the local competition. Mr Davies concluded by sharing with the boys how it was a very enjoyable season and thanked the players, and their families, for their support and commitment this term.

Junior Beach Volleyball: Wednesday (Year 7-9) Mr Van Winsen, Ms McCarthy and Mrs Larsen
The Junior beach volleyballers had another change of plans with a shortage of bus drivers meaning that they could not go to the usual venue at North Beach. Their alternative was to play at School in the undercover courts, which they embraced for their final hit out. The students have shown a dramatic improvement in how they move on the court and execute their skills, which culminated in some awesome rallies.

Year 6 Basketball: Thursday Mr Bastow and Ms Lee
Our last fixture before the finals was even more frantic, with the eight teams playing three actioned packed games. This meant that all teams had played each other over seven games, and our final ladder was complete. Highlights were provided by Rohan (Team 4), Levi (Team 2) and Sophie (Team 2). The best highlight was from Team 1, who managed to have all team members score in one game which meant they received a 10-point bonus. The semifinals are set (see below).
