Old Scholar Stars
When our students leave St Mark's, their post-school pathways see them travel around the world and achieve in a variety of different ways. We are delighted to share some news from some of our past students who are still St Mark's Stars!
Tamsin Cook (Olympic Silver Medallist)
We were delighted to hear that one of our past students, Tamsin Cook, has again made the Australian Olympic Swimming Team, this time for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics! We are all very proud of what she has achieved, particularly with her resilience in recovering from a big setback. Her attitude and hard work is an inspiration to us all! Tamsin was part of the Class of 2016, but completed her studies in Queensland, as she prepared for her Olympic debut in what would have been her graduating year.
Calan Williams (Class of 2017)
Calan was racing in motor sport long before he was legally allowed to drive on Perth's road! While still at school, Calan was the Champion of Australian Formula 3 Championship with Gilmour Racing. After his graduation from St Mark's, Calan headed to Europe to compete in Euroformula Open Championship with Fortec Motorsport, and in 2020, signed with Jenzer Motorsport for 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship. Last week, Calan achieved his first podium finish in F3 - a major milestone. Congratulations, Calan!
Felicity (Flick) Palmateer (Class of 2009)
Flick is a big wave surfer and artist, but has taken on a whole new challenge this year, competing in the Australian 'Brains vs Brawns' season of Survivor. In 2015, she became the first female surfer to ride the biggest wave at Cow Bombie. Her first solo art exhibition was held in May, in Margaret River. Best of luck, Flick; we look forward to seeing you on the show when it airs this year.
Kelvin Hepburn (Class of 2020)
Kelvin joined 172 other young sailors of the Royal Australian Navy College for their graduation on 18 June. Hosted on the Quarterdeck of HMAS Creswell on the shores of Jervis Bay, the graduation marked the culmination of intensive preparation to join the wider Navy environment. Congratulations, Kelvin, and all the best for your career in the Navy.
