The Athletics All Stars Team is an "All ACC" honorary team consisting of the best two performers in each event across all divisions of the carnival.

AFL ALL STAR

Well done to Year 11 student, Luker, on his selection to represent the ACC boys’ team in the boys All Stars AFL match against the SSWA team.

The match is scheduled for 12:00pm on Friday 14 October at Leederville Oval. All event details are available HERE.

CRICKET SUCCESS

Congratulations to Year 7 student, Leo, who has been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2022 Cricket 12s Boys Championship. He will be competing at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Bendigo in November.

Well done, Leo!

HOCKEY STAR

Over the holiday break, Year 7 student, Kai, represented WA in the Hockey Australia U13 Carnival in Hobart. Kai and fellow St Mark's student, Harry, were selected for the team, WA Lightning. They had a very successful tournament taking home the silver medal!

Way to go!

LACROSSE LEGEND

Well done to Charlie from Year 9 who represented WA in The Flames Lacrosse team at the 2022 U15 National Lacrosse tournament. The tournament was held at Joondalup HBF Arena during the Term 3 school holidays.

The final assembly of Term 3, the Prefect Induction Assembly, saw our 2022 Prefect Leadership Team hand over the reins to our 2023 Team.

Thank you to our 2022 Prefects for their leadership and for being wonderful role models to our school community.

Congratulations to our incoming leaders. We wish our 2023 Prefects the best of luck in their roles and know that they will serve our School confidently and positively.

We have a new member of the St Mark’s Team we would like to introduce you to, but it is a little hard when the individual doesn’t have a name. You may have seen this particular individual popping up on our e-signs and screens located around the School, plus on our social media. Can you guess what or who it is?

To help you out - our newest team member is a cartoon-winged lion.

Our students will know from wearing the St Mark’s uniform proudly and seeing our logo around School that we have a winged lion in the school crest. From earliest Christianity, a winged lion has been the symbol of our School’s namesake - Saint Mark. The lion represents courage, bravery and valour, and along with our school values, underpin all aspects of life at St Mark’s. As a cartoon version of the winged lion on our crest, it is hoped that it will bring a sense of fun, friendliness and community to our School branding. Our winged lion is a well-rounded character who tackles any challenge with courage. It has a passion for learning and, just like our students, is friendly and kind, adaptable and inclusive.

To introduce the newest addition properly, we need the help of our students to name them. To enter, students need to complete the online form and submit their suggested name. Our Year 10s are hoping you are all still collecting your plastic bread tags!

The tags are recycled locally, raising funds to buy wheelchairs for needy children and adults, mainly in South Africa. Click here to learn more about this great cause.

From Friday 14 October 2022, COVID-19 mandatory isolation requirements will be removed. This change was agreed to earlier this year at National Cabinet.

This week in Visual Art, Year 3 students completed their maze fold journals inspired by the work of Abstract Expressionist Artist Kandinsky and the vibrant works of Hundertwasser.

Students studied the stylistic characteristics of both artists’ work and then formed their own responses through drawing, painting, textiles and finally constructing their own maze fold journal.

The soon-to-graduate Class of 2022 will take on the Old Scholars in a game of dodgeball this Sunday the 16th of October at 1pm in the Hall.

Whether you are a Class of 2022 member or an Old Scholar, make sure you join the teams for an afternoon of fun, laughter and competition.

It includes a free sausage sizzle, and the chance to unwind after mocks and to chat about life after St Mark's.

Middle and Senior School Students are invited to wear funky socks and/or funky shirt as part of the Year 9 Kindness Project on Wednesday 26 October.

Bring a gold coin donation. All donations will go towards purchasing gift boxes from Soul Gestures which will be paid forward as a random act of kindness.

Saturday night saw the one and only performance of the after-school Musical Theatre Club – Rise Up! Showcase.

The goal of Rise Up! is to be part of a hardworking team where every week you become a little more skilled and better than you were the week before. The training ground for Rise Up! was a weekly 75-minute rehearsal, which would run for a term. Each session provided students with the opportunity to develop skills in music dance and drama and each week the students did not disappoint. Rising up each week to the challenges that were set.

A packed audience of our community cheering on all involved were treated to a wonderful showcase. On the night a special moment was to see a foundation staff member in the audience sitting next to her son, an old scholar who was watching his daughter (granddaughter of the foundation staff member) performing on the same boards he once travelled.

We are excited to announce the opening of the annual Year 11 and 12 ATAR and General Art Exhibition which will occur this Friday 14 October in the SAC staffroom.

Please join us for canapes and refreshments from 4pm - 6pm.

The exhibition will remain open until the end of the day Tuesday 18 October.

We are excited to advise that applications for the Old Scholars' Association Scholarship are now open.

The Scholarship is awarded to a Year 9 student who excels and commits across several sporting, cultural, extra and co-curricular pursuits, community as well as academic commitment and specialist areas. The Association is looking for a well-rounded student who embodies the spirit of St Mark's Anglican Community School.

The Scholarship will provide a partial fee remission of 25% in the level of the tuition fee payable by the successful student each year and will continue until the student leaves St Mark's or for three years.

Applications will close on MONDAY 16 OCTOBER 2023, AT 4.00PM.

The AVCAT scholarships, including the Long Tan Bursary, are tertiary scholarships for the children and grandchildren of Australian ex-serving veterans. Scholarships are $4000–$6000 per year for three years.

Applications open on 18 August 2022, Vietnam Veterans' Day, and close at midnight AEDT on 31 October 2022.

Dads and Father Figures, the POSTMEN annual campout is JUST DAYS AWAY!

Kids of any age at St Mark’s can come on down and spend a day and a night bonding with Dad and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Opening from 10 am on the Saturday for people to come and peg out a site and pitch their tent, we’ll be kicking off some planned activities from 1pm including a dodge ball tournament and Dads vs Kids Capture the Flag (last year was a draw, so there are bragging rights to be won!).

You don’t have to be a hardcore camper to weather this one, we’ll be putting on dinner in the evening with hot dogs and burgers and helping you get going in the morning with bacon and egg rolls, cereal and fruit. We will definitely also invite our friends from the local coffee van to come and help us open our eyes Sunday morning.

We can’t guarantee a good night's sleep, but we definitely guarantee fun.

You can choose to go all in for activities or just enjoy kicking a footy or throwing a frisbee on the oval with your kids whilst meeting a few of the other dads at the school.

The Anchors Youth Centre is running a 6-week Manga Art Workshop series, commencing Monday 17 October.

Sessions run 4.30pm to 6.00pm. The cost is $25 for the 6-week program. More information is available on the website or by downloading the flyer here.

The Girls Programming Network is for high school girls and gender-diverse students in Years 7-12 who are interested in learning how to program or improve their coding skills. GPN is a unique opportunity to make friends, meet people with similar interests, and learn about Perth's tech community.
