St Mark's Year 2 Students Explore School History in "Then and Now" Project

Our Year 2 students recently embarked on an exciting journey through time as part of their Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) curriculum. The "Then and Now" project allowed them to delve into the history of St Mark's, gaining valuable insights into how our school has evolved over the years.

A highlight of this learning experience was the opportunity for students to hear firsthand accounts from Old Scholars who once walked the paths of St Mark's in their maroon uniforms. These alumni shared fascinating stories about their school days, painting a picture of what life was like at St Mark's in years past.

The young historians were captivated by tales of how the school has changed over time. They learned about differences in classroom setups, playground equipment, and even school traditions that have evolved or remained the same throughout the years. This experience allowed students to develop a deeper understanding of continuity and change, a key concept in historical thinking. Through this engaging and interactive approach, our students are developing crucial skills in historical inquiry and analysis.

By connecting with Old Scholars, our Year 2 students were able to bridge the gap between past and present, gaining a unique perspective on their school's heritage. This interaction not only enriched their understanding of history but also fostered a sense of belonging to the larger St Mark's community that spans generations.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Old Scholars who generously shared their time and memories with our students. Your contributions have made history come alive for our Year 2 class and have helped instill in them a deeper appreciation for the legacy of St Mark's.

We look forward to seeing how these young historians continue to explore and understand the world around them.
