Senior CAS One Day Carnival
CAS Sport for our Senior Students has been changed up this year - so rather than weekly fixtures, they have a one-day carnival followed by semi-finals and finals. We had over 100 Senior students compete in this altered CAS event, which provided our students with the opportunity to compete seriously or socially in volleyball, touch rugby (girls), and basketball.
Touch Rugby: Our Senior Girls team were amazing. Training on Friday mornings clearly paid off, and the girls won all the games easily. Our experienced players led the way, but the less experienced were the ones who showed great improvement.
Senior Girls Basketball: 3-0 - They are an outstanding team who gave everything in all games. Even with a few injuries, they blasted past the competition to finish on top. We hope Annabelle recovers quickly.
Senior Boys Basketball: 1-2 - A very competitive and even competition, our boys had some mixed results. Being hit by injuries prior to the carnival did not help, but they worked hard to win one and have two narrow losses.
Social Basketball: We had three teams enter, and they all loved the day. Playing six mini-games, they played hard but in the right spirit. It was an even competition, with our teams coming away with more wins than losses, but, more importantly, we loved the chance to have a day competing with our peers.
Senior Girls Volleyball: 3-0 - A real mix of abilities, with some experienced volleyballers and others still learning. One thing they had in common was their competitiveness. They played hard and improved greatly throughout the day to go undefeated.
Senior Boys Volleyball: 1-2 - A steep learning curve for the boys in their first real competition. Winning one game and narrowly losing two, they grew in confidence with every point and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Social Volleyball: This competition was affected by a school withdrawing late which meant that our teams had to play less games, saying that they still loved competing and the stark difference in standard between the start of the day and the end of the day meant that they improved dramatically. Lots of highlights and laughs rounded out a great day.
Senior CAS Finals: All our Senior teams have qualified for finals with the semi-finals on Tuesday 12 March and the finals on 19 March. Our students are excited about the challenge of playing for the chance to be CAS champions!
We wish them all the best.
