Give Me a Beat

On Monday 21 October, our contemporary music students had the opportunity to learn from internationally acclaimed drummer Steve Judd of the progressive rock band, Karnivool. Steve led a dynamic workshop where he shared insights and techniques that left our students buzzing with excitement.

Two of our award-winning rock bands, fresh off their gold wins from the recent New Zealand music tour, performed a song each, impressing Steve with their talent. A standout moment came when Riff Reverie welcomed Steve on stage to perform "Themata," a track by Karnivool, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone involved!

The session also included a Q&A, where students eagerly asked about the music industry, drumming techniques, and practice routines. The inspiration and knowledge shared during this workshop were truly invaluable, and we can't wait to welcome Steve back for more enriching sessions in the future!
