CAS Results - Term 2, Week 5
With exams this week, we had no Senior teams playing so it was up to our Juniors to fly the flag. Peter Moyes is always a strong opposition, and we had some tough matches. We have a bye next week as we prepare for the ACC Cross country.
NETBALL
7a Girls WIN 25-16
Tough physical match, with a tight first half. In the second half, our girls seemed to have more energy to pull away with a great win. Isla, Orla and Tia were amazing against a very tall and athletic team.
7b Girls WIN 26-2
The girls were outstanding. This team has not been challenged nor have they dropped their intensity. The game gave the girls a chance to rotate around the court to try different positions with everyone contributing to a win. A special mention to Clementine, Monique and Harper who were the best on court.
8 Girls LOSS 34-41
Playing the team that beat them in the grand final last year, our girls knew it would be a challenge. Some great passages of play and hot shooting from Greta kept the team in it. Unfortunately, the girls were overcome in the last quarter even though Gracie and Hannah were outstanding.
9 Girls LOSS 25-31
The super team were missing a few players and came up against a fierce opponent. They battled hard, but a tough second quarter put them down eight behind at the half. Charlotte, Chelsea and Grace led the chase in the second half, but unfortunately, the girls lost by six.
SOCCER
7 Girls LOSS 0-7
The girls were up against a very tall and experienced team. They never gave up and defended strongly. Gemma was repelling all their attacks, but in the end, she and the defenders were overwhelmed.
7 Boys LOSS 0-6
The boys were a little flat against a very tough opposition. This week was a physical encounter where our boys never gave up but were missing the spark that they had last week.
8/9 Girls LOSS 0-5
Our girls played a very good team, but this did not stop their effort. Emily, Ava and Lois were leading the way, with the team having a few opportunities but couldn't get past the opposition's defence.
8/9 Boys DRAW 1-1
Getting their first points of the season was celebrated as the boys have been training and working hard. Luca set up the goal with his throw-in, and Mitch delivered. Oliver and Cohen were everywhere, and Tom nearly won the team the game with a shot that hit the right crossbar.
AFL
7 Boys WIN 5.6 (41) – 4.4 (28)
Peter Moyes arrived with only 12 players, so our team showed great sportsmanship to only play 12. The problem was the Peter Moyes team were very good and had a lead at half-time. We put some players on, and the extra legs made a difference as the boys powered over them! Harry took many marks in the backline reading the play beautifully while Dylan did the grunt work through the middle, and Charlie finished with three goals.
8/9 Boys WIN 13.6 (84) – 0.1 (1)
The boys travelled up to Peter Moyes, keen to play after a few forfeits from the opposition. Facing an undefeated Peter Moyes, the team played very well, moving the ball beautifully and defending strongly.
