CAS Results - Term 2, Week 3
It was a tough week on the ground against Mater Dei last week - we won some, and we lost some. Overall our teams battled hard and brought the St Mark's spirit to every game.
NETBALL
7a Girls LOSS 18-24
Girls had a tough first-up game against a very tall and athletic opposition. After a slow start, they fought the game out but were outclassed. Peggy and Tyeesha played strongly.
7b Girls WIN 28-2
A scrappy game early, but then the team got it going and worked really well together. A big margin, in the end, with Ms Lee rotating the girls off. Monique, Ella and Clementine were the best in a team performance.
8 Girls WIN 39-17
The girls were looking to respond to last week's defeat and came out with intent. Still, not their full team they were too strong. Sadie had a real impact in her first game back, but overall the whole team gelled nicely and is looking forward to Prendiville next week.
9 Girls WIN 34-26
This game was the much-anticipated rematch of last year's grand final. A strong rivalry has formed between these two teams, and the girls were ready. Evie, Mackenzie and Sofie led the way as the girls fought off a few challenges throughout to get the win.
Senior Girls WIN 43-25
SOCCER
7 Girls LOSS 0-4
With the girls playing their first game of the term and for some first-ever game of soccer, they had a blast. Never giving up, they ran hard all game but were up against an experienced outfit. Special mentioned to Brianna, who was very brave after being injured in the first half. The girls were still full of energy on the return bus ride and are excited about their next game.
7 Boys LOSS 0-3
After last week’s win, the boys went in confident, travelling on the bus for their first away match. Unfortunately, they were outrun and outgunned by a very strong team. To the boys' credit, they never gave up creating a few chances but could not convert. Ollie and Toby were amazing goalkeepers.
8/9 Girls WIN 3-2
Wow, what a win! This was a very close game. Our girls got off to a flyer with two goals but are very energetic opposition kept coming at them. Missing some players, our girls played short but kept at it to win a tough one. Ebony, Bell, Emily and Ava were strong throughout. It was great to see the 8/9 boys who finished their game a little earlier come across to cheer and support.
8/9 Boys LOSS 2-4
A very entertaining game of soccer. Our boys got in front early but then could not stop a run of goals from Mater Dei. One player from the opposition was causing headaches, but the boys stuck at it. Highlights were a goal from Matthew and Cohen putting his body on the line from a free kick.
Senior Girls WIN 3-1
Short on players again, these girls just throw everything into each game. They were challenged many times but just showed too much grit to keep their winning streak alive. Chloe was outstanding while Mia was a great leader, and Summer playing for the first time showed plenty of promise.
Senior Boys LOSS 1-2
In the boys' first defeat, they were up against a very Senior team and were a few soldiers short. Sam battled hard in goals, and they had some chances to equalise, but unfortunately, they came up short to lose by a goal.
AFL
7 Boys WIN 43-33
On a big ground, the boys played with 18 on the field. This allowed all our boys to play the full game. Knowing this was going to be a hard game, the boys came out hungry but still trailed at halftime.
In the second half, our midfield stepped up, with Dylan leading the way. With a great game from Charlie and Josh, the boys got in front and never surrendered the lead winning by ten points.
8/9 Boys LOSS 52-104
Playing the reigning champions, this was always going to be tough, especially as Mater Dei were preparing strongly for this one. They arrived with a few high-quality players kicking the first four goals. Our boys responded with Tyler kicking a first-half bag to go into the half within nine points. After halftime, they were too strong, although the game felt closer than the final scoreline. Fletcher played his wing role well, with Loch tackling hard.
