CAS Report - Term 1, Round 6

CAS Round 6 V Peter Moyes Anglican Community School

A full round of fixtures for both Seniors and Juniors this week. Our Seniors set a very high standard with five wins from five games on Tuesday whilst on Wednesday the Juniors had some exciting close games with some wins and some heartbreaking losses.

One more round to go next week, and we are excited to finish strongly!

SENIOR CAS

Year 10-12 Volleyball Boys Result: WIN 2-0 (25-18, 25-6)

The boys took some time to adjust to the opposition style in game one but then settled to have a convincing win in game two. Charlie was a dominant force and was supported by Elliot and Cameron.

Year 10-12 Volleyball Girls Result: WIN 2-0 (25-13, 25-13)

With their super coach absent, Mrs Larsen stepped up to lead the team. Not much leading is required as this senior group work so well together. Peter Moyes were outplayed in both games with our team's balance of power and skill. Amy, Nadia and Rebecca were consistently awesome!

Year 10-12 Touch Rugby Girls Result: WIN 17-2 (Mercy rule 10-2)

The girls were clinical in their victory. The game was over early on, but Peter Moyes kept fighting and managed to get past for two tries. Bella was outstanding for the team, but again all stepped up and contributed both defensively and in the attack.

Year 10-12 Basketball Girls Result: WIN 32-22

The girls are having fun. This team came together as a real mix of experience and talent from other sports. Grace and Kayla lead with their experience, but it is the enthusiasm of the rest of the team that is most impressive. Asha scored some baskets, and every time her celebration was infectious! A great win, and with one game to go, it has been an awesome season for the girls!

Year 10-12 Basketball Boys Result: WIN 53-38

Our Senior boys have led the way all season. A talented mix of Year 10s, 11s and 12s have gelled nicely and have gone undefeated. Knowing Peter Moyes were a threat, they came out strong and maintained a lead all game. One more game to go to clinch the title!

JUNIOR CAS

Year 7-9 Indoor Beach Volleyball Result WIN 3-0

Strong serving and hustle off the net provided the team with many important points. Owen, Luca and Emily were outstanding. This team is building nicely as the season goes on!

Year 7-9 Cricket Result: WIN 59-50 (SMK = 5-74), (PM= 5-65)

This was a very close game. Both teams lost five wickets each, but our boys managed to make nine more runs to get the win. We had two pairs that stepped up, with both Luke/Lucas scoring 24 runs with the loss of a wicket and Blake/Xavier similarly scoring 22 without a loss. Great game all around.

Year 7-9 Touch Rugby Girls Result: WIN 9-3

Battle of the speedsters, as both teams had some amazing speed in their teams. But the training paid off as our girls used their hard work to play a little smarter and prevent Peter Moyes' speed from scoring too much while adding nine of our own! Emily, Holly and Casey had great games.

Year 7 Basketball Girls Result: LOSS 9-17

In the grand final match between the two undefeated teams, our girls threw everything at them. With some of our girls involved in the swimming carnival, it was a big ask to play Peter Moyes. Although they were close in the first half, our girls ran out of legs and had their first loss. They will bounce back next week!

Year 8 Basketball Girls Result: LOSS 36-38

A super slow start from the girls cost them this one, as they got better and better as the game wore on, losing by the narrowest of margins. Ashlyn was our star, but Lily and Greta were holding their own in this battle.

Year 9 Basketball Girls Result: WIN 29-20

The girls were challenged this week with a hard, physical game. They produced their best game of the season, running over the top of the opposition. Abi, Sara and Meg played well, but overall, everyone stepped up! One more to go, which could decide the competition winner!

Year 7 Basketball Boys Result: LOSS 24-30

The boys had their best game of the season as they took it up to a team higher on the ladder. They defended well and moved the ball around in offence. Charlie led the scoring, but he had plenty of help from Nick, Jackson and Michael.

Year 8 Basketball Boys Result: WIN 39-38

What a thriller – the boys are on a roll! A one-point win in a very physical tussle with Peter Moyes. The boys rotated on and off the bench bringing energy. Tyson, Lenny and Kane were amazing, but everyone put in a strong team effort!

Year 9 Basketball Boys Result: WIN 50-49

Wow, this game had a finals-type atmosphere, with both teams bringing high energy. Jasper crashed the boards all game and was helped by the skills of Chad and Tristan. This team has been on the wrong end of narrow losses, but this game was different as the boys made a huge effort to gain a 1-point win!
