Our third round of fixtures kicked off against our distant cousin, St James. It was sure to be a great round of competition, and the opposition did not disappoint.

Year 7 Basketball Girls - Result: Loss 7 - 68

This week, we versed St James, and even though we tried really hard and did our best, we sadly lost. Scarlett scored five points, and Lani scored two points, leaving us with a pretty good score of seven. All the girls tried their best and gave it their all. The Year 7 Girls’ Basketball team did amazing. The MVP this week is Scarlett Allan. Even though she got hurt multiple times, she kept playing until the end and even managed five points!

Year 8 Basketball Girls - Result: Win 102-2

We are lucky today as we have not one but two write-ups of the match. Thank you, girls.

In an incredibly one-sided match, our team dominated from start to finish, securing a commanding 102-2 victory. Right from the tip-off, we controlled the game's pace, fast breaks from stealing the ball, intercepting passes and blocking shots. Our offense clicked on all cylinders, with multiple players contributing to the scoring spree.

The CAS game against St James was very good. Our team played very well, and our offence and defence for the entire match were exceptional. At the start, we were playing defence from half-court and then, throughout the game, played defence from the three-point line so as to let the other team bring the ball up a bit further. This shows our sportsmanship as we were up by a significant number of points. Our shooting was pretty accurate, and the majority of the time, we always found the best shot. In fact, every single player on our team scored at least once, which shows our teamwork and selflessness, passing it off to someone who has a better shot. Our communication on the court improved as the game went by. The teammates on the bench were very loud and supportive, cheering on the five people on the court. The final score of our game was 102-2. St James wasn't the strongest team we had faced, but overall, we got an amazing win, great teamwork, sportsmanship, and got the best shot. It didn’t matter who shot it, as our team played very well together, and we look forward to the games ahead!! GO SMACS

Year 9 Basketball Girls - Result: Win 76 – 2

We played very well in the St James game, with the ending score being 76-2 (I think). Our defence was very strong, and we got lots of steals. We shared and passed the ball around well, so everybody got a shot in. We showed great teamwork with everyone in an upbeat mood and cracking some good jokes. It was a good run around and great practice for the more challenging upcoming games.

Year 8 Basketball Boys - Result: Win 60-32

In Wednesday’s game against St James, we won 60-32. We kicked off the game with good off-ball movement and great defence on the interior and the perimeter. We worked well as a team and scored lots of transition and fastbreak points. Overall, it was a great game for all the players, and thanks to the coach, Mr Stewart, the referees, and the scorers.

Year 9 Basketball Boys - Result: Win 67 - 20

In the recent Year 9 CAS basketball match against St James, we had an absolutely destructive win, going up 67 to 22. This, in large part, was thanks to the efforts of James Bell, who has an absolute life game, dropping over 20 points and making some key blocks and steals. But if we're talking about steals, the crown has to go to Ollie Tasker, who had some absolutely insane turnovers and immediately chucked a pass down the court, letting us rack up layup after layup. He and James were working absolute magic on the court that game; it was beautiful to watch. Other standout players include Gabe and Nick, who scored 12 points each. Nick especially had some beautiful passes, and Gabe controlled the game's tempo, not allowing St James to gain an inch. Overall, the team was extremely happy with how the game turned out, yet we are still cautious over our next game considering the absolute demolition that occurred to us against St Stephen's. I’m still trying to forget that.
