Captivating Coral Bay
This year presented a first for our Year 11 and 12 students with our inaugural Biology (BLY) and Marine and Maritime Studies (MMS) camp to Coral Bay.
Students were given the chance to engage with the marine environment in a meaningful way while developing and applying the skills and knowledge they have learnt in the MMS and BLY programs. We met local marine ecologist and fish/coral expert Fraser McGregor PhD from Murdoch University, who shared his knowledge about the current challenges around sustainable practices and maintaining biodiversity in the area.
The weather was not as kind to us as we had hoped, but our students made the most of their time; diving with an array of marine life, including turtles, sharks and manta rays and immersing themselves in a trip of a lifetime!
This is the first of many Marine Camps to come with meaningful and positive connections made with the Coral Bay community – we can’t wait to get back!
