ACC A-Division Interschool Swimming Carnival 2023
2023 presented us with our first opportunity since 2021 to compete at an ACC Swimming Carnival. The last time we competed we won B-Division resulting in us being promoted to the ACC’s highest division. Combined with a well-attended training program led by a team of staff coaches, we felt well-equipped and prepared to put forward our best team and strive for a place amongst the top schools.
On the day of the carnival, everyone was excited to be back in the pool, representing the school. The theme was to “step up”, as we had a few Senior year groups who lacked depth in swimming. This presented a few problems but, on the positive, it gave our reserves and B-Division relay swimmers the opportunity to get in the water and swim for St Mark’s. Throughout the day, we had many students offer to swim up and help, and we managed to fill every single race and relay. In a real battle throughout the day with All Saints and Mandurah Catholic College, we ended up finishing 7th and, unfortunately, are relegated to B-Division in 2024.
Overall, I was proud of how our students accepted the challenge in A-Division, and they swam their hearts out.
We had many individual standouts with six top-5 students, plus a special mention to Zachary McCamley, who did himself and the School proud, swimming in both the programmed events and the multi-class events.

A big thanks to our Swim Coaches and our Swimming Captains for their leadership and commitment. To the staff for the early morning trainings, and support and guidance for the students in the preparation and performance on the day.
We look forward to bouncing back next year and returning to the A-Division Carnival in 2025.
