TERM 3 – ELC EVENT DATES

• ELC CLASS ASSEMBLIES – Most Wednesdays at 2.00pm in the PAC
  Parents are welcome to attend their child’s Class Assembly.
  More details will be provided by Teachers via Seesaw closer to their Assembly date.

• K-Y5 PRIMARY BOOK FAIR – WEEK 7 (26 to 30 August)
  Parents are encouraged to accompany their children before or after school to visit the Primary School Library to purchase books. Opening hours are:
  Monday: after school 3.15pm to 3.45pm
  Tuesday to Thursday: before school 8.15am - 8.45am and after school 3.15pm to 3.45pm
  Friday: before school 8.15 - 8.45am

• ELC FATHER/OTHER SPECIAL PERSON CELEBRATION – Friday 30 August (Week 7)
  ELC Dads (or other special person) are invited to attend from 8.30 to 10.30am. Kindy Starfish are invited as well. Sausage sizzle provided for adults and students. See separate item for more details.

• R U OK DAY – Thursday 5 September (Week 8)
  Students are usually invited to add something yellow to their School uniform on this day.

• Y1 EXCURSION TO PERTH ZOO – Thursday 5 September (Week 8)
  Details have one out via Consent2Go. Parents will need to respond to the invite as soon as possible.
  Year 1s will not be permitted to add something yellow to their School uniform on this day.

• PP EXCURSION TO HERDSMANS LAKE – Tuesday 10 September (Week 9)
  Details will be provided via Consent2Go closer to the event date. (Parents will need to respond to the invite.)

• KINDY: COMMUNITY NURSE VISITING KINDY FOR HEALTH CHECKS
  Starfish – Tuesday 10 September
  Turtles – Thursday 13 September (apologies for date error in last week’s Bulletin)

• PP & Y1 HOUSE ACTIVITY DAY – Friday 20 September (Week 10)
  Pre-Primary and Year 1 students will need to wear their House shirts on this day.

• LAST DAY OF TERM 3 – Friday 20 September (Week 10)
  Students will finish at their normal time on this day.

• FIRST DAY OF TERM 4 – Monday 7 October
  Kindy Starfish will attend on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 1
  Kindy Turtles will attend on Thursday and Friday of Week 1

The children from the ELC (Kindergarten to Year 1) will be celebrating Fathers/Other Special Person with a Sausage Sizzle (bring a picnic blanket), Special Service and some games (sports shoes recommended) on Friday morning, 30 August.

ELC Dads (or other special person) are invited to attend the festivities. If Dads are not available, perhaps an Uncle, Grandfather or other special person could attend in their place or perhaps your child could buddy up with one of their friends. If your child will not have a special person attending this event, please let the class teacher know and we will ensure that your child is placed with a special staff person for the occasion.

This is a special time for Dads to spend at school with their child. Staff will be encouraging the children to remain with their Dad and the ELC group and not to run off to play on equipment or with their friends. We ask everyone to be mindful of supervision, safety and that other classes are operating throughout the school at this time.

Details are as follows:

Date: Friday 30 August 2024

Time: 8.30am – arrive with your child outside their ELC classroom to register attendance and drop off school bag. Dads will then walk with their ELC child to the ‘Secondary Quadrangle’ for a Sausage Sizzle. The wet weather option will be BBQ and games undercover in the Hall)

9.15am – Service led by Joe da Costa - Primary School Chapel teacher
9.30am - Games on the Junior School Oval
10.30am - Finish (approximately)

Breakfast: We will cater for one sausage in a bun for adults and half a sausage in a bun for students.

Please bring: a picnic blanket to sit on (grass may be wet).

Parking: We are permitted to use the parking bays at Whitfords City Shopping Centre near Muzz Buzz. Please DO NOT use the carparks of our immediate neighbours. Thank you.

Kindergarten: All Kindergarten students and their Dads (or other special family member) are invited to attend.

• This will be a normal school attendance day for the Turtle Group with a finish time of 3.00pm.
• The Starfish Group is invited to attend for the duration of the festivities. The Starfish students will need to wear their School uniform but they will not require their School bags.
• Students from both groups should arrive at the Kindergarten classroom from 8.30am with their Dads or other special family member.
• The Starfish students will go home with their Dads or other special family member at approximately 10.30am.

We hope to see as many Dads (or other special family members) as possible attend this enjoyable event.

2024 ELC Various Tasks Roster

The Annual POSTMEN Games Day is on again! Saturday, September 14th, from 1pm to 5pm, presents an opportunity for Dads and Father Figures to bring along their kids to try some fun and interesting board games. Adam from BoardGamesDirect.com will help us again by bringing along some different games for us to play. The event will be suitable for kids of all ages, with something to appeal to everyone.

We’ll round the afternoon off with our much-loved Klask tournament and some pizza for an early dinner.

Come and have a blast, compete for great prizes, and enjoy some quality time with your kids.

The St Mark's community are invited to join the St Mark's P&F for their general meeting on Tuesday 27 August at 7.00pm in the Barbara Godwin Performing Arts Complex.

• Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
• Bookings are not required.
• Two parent commitment hours are available for each family who attends.

Rebecca Rourke, Head of Inclusion, Learning, and Diversity, and Samantha Goldberg, Senior Psychologist, will present on "How we address individual needs at St Mark's from a Wellbeing and Learning Diversity Perspective.

With the team drafts finalised, excitement is building as we prepare for the annual Kristian Hoogenkamp Memorial AFL Game, featuring K White's Warriors versus Bentley's Battalion. Scheduled for Friday, 30 August, at midday, this event is set to be a heartfelt tribute to our cherished friend and classmate, Kristian Hoogenkamp, whose memory continues to inspire us.

As we look forward to this match of the year, fans can expect some intriguing matchups and a showcase of players in form and some not! The anticipation surrounding the game is palpable, with both teams eager to claim the bragging rights of the Hoogenkamp Spirit Cup (HSC).

To make the day even more enjoyable, a variety of food trucks will be on-site, offering delicious options for everyone.

In addition to the game, we are excited to announce the HSC Raffle, which will raise funds for Sock it to Sarcoma, an organisation dedicated to supporting those affected by sarcoma. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the event and online from Thursday, 22 August, at 4:00 pm. We encourage everyone to contribute to this worthy cause.

We warmly invite all Old Scholars, along with friends and family, to join us in celebrating Kristian’s legacy. Your presence at the Kristian Hoogenkamp Memorial AFL Game is invaluable. It not only supports the players on the field but also reinforces the St Mark's community spirit. Mark your calendars for Friday, 30 August 2024, and prepare for an afternoon filled with competition, remembrance, and unity as one team strives to claim the Hoogenkamp Spirit Cup.

Together, let’s celebrate a remarkable individual and make a difference in the fight against sarcoma.

All Old Scholars are invited to attend the 2024 Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, 17 September, in the SAC Staffroom.

Drinks and nibbles will be served.

Parent Commitment Hours can be claimed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

All positions will be declared vacant, and nominations are called for a new Committee. All current members of the Association are encouraged to attend the AGM, and any member may nominate to join the committee.

• Nominations can be submitted to osa@stmarks.wa.edu.au by Friday 13 September. Nominations can also be taken from the floor at the AGM.
• Any members who are not able to attend may select a proxy to vote on their behalf at the AGM. Completed proxy forms should be emailed to osa@stmarks.wa.edu.au by Friday 13 September.

The St Marks Art Show on October 4-6 is shaping up to be a fabulous event, but time is running out for artists to submit their entry. Don’t miss this opportunity! Calling all business owners and gift donors. We can offer you volunteer hours if you can offer a raffle prize. Every donation of $30 can be exchanged for one volunteer hour. Get in touch with the Art Show committee at artshow@stmarks.wa.edu.au to find out how to get involved.

St Mark's is again looking for volunteers to assist with supervision for the upcoming Year 11 exams from Tuesday 29 October to Friday 8 November.

Sessions are broken up into two time slots, morning (08:00am to 12:00pm) and afternoon (1:00pm to 4:30pm).
